Literature says 8 to 10 inches. I will try some this year at that depth, but for years have planted ground level and had the champion of champions in the neighborhood, so posting here simply to see if someone else has had experience with same.

The deeper you plant the later they bloom.

Many bulbs/ plants in temperate zones can be formed to your use.
