update 7/23/2019:
In 3 days the pineapple turned near completely yellow. There is a little bit of green on the back side. The pineapple is still very firm to a squeeze/touch. Most online descriptions indicate 6 months fruit to ripen. To my count this one grow to full size (about 70-72 days; a week ago) and changed color in about 75 to 80 days. ... I'll pick when there is a little more give when squeezed since pineapples do not continue to ripen after being picked. ... Compare to picture in post above.
Pic of the new flower or baby pineapple. It has near doubled in size in 3 days.
There are 5 slips and the crown to be potted from this plant. And I think after picking the fruit, the plant will produce several more slips and a few pups at the base. ... Also, 1 or 2 slips could be left on the mother plant to grow but the fruit would be much smaller. This could be interesting for a patio display.
