Default Sikkim and bassjoo - how deep can we plant?

We have divided basjoo and will be planting out Sikkimensis - how deep can we sink the basjoo? (Sorry if I asked this before but cannot find the post).
We have pstems from 2 to 4" diameter (2-4 feet tall). They have been drying for past two days and will plant tomorrow.
The Sikkim are small (4 inches and we will wait till a couple of feet, but cana we then plant those say 6" deep? We will be leaving in ground for the winter (zone 7), recognising that this may be pushing it. Will keep a few in side as we experiment. (We managed to kill off 90% of our basjoo until we learned how to get it to survive the winter - lucky it pups like wild as we were always able to have a couple in reserve). Would prefer not to do the same with the Sikkim, but will treat them like the basjoo but try for more protected areas. We are building "bubbles" three feet high in center, circa 8 feet wide to keep them dry.
