Bananas need 9 to 12 months of warm growing days to produce fruit depending on variety. Temps below mid 50° 's causes the plant to go dormant and extend the growing time needed. ... Then there is the strong possibility of the pstem freezing while fruit is forming killing the pstem & growing point.
