You won't burn the seeds unless they are exposed to direct sun in a sealed container. None of those heat mats get hot enough to cook Musa seeds to my knowledge.

I have my seeds on a timer set at 19 hours off, 5 hours on. With Musa velutina, I think you could get good germination results with a number of combination.

Have you searched this forum for any posts relating to germination? There are lots of them, and very good information in them also. Check out the "Banana Seed Germination Forum."
