  1. Many plant retailers source their plants from plant distributors, who in turn buy from horticultural wholesale nurseries. There are of course retailers who buy directly from wholesale nurseries.
  2. Most retailers use common names provided by their suppliers, but on occasion some falsely use names of plants in high demand.
  3. With bananas as with some other plants of desire, many common names in different languages have emerged for the same plant.
  4. And so it has occurred (not just with Ice Cream) that a wholesale grower chose a name for a plant that already existed as a synonym for another plant.
