Default Re: Bananas in my garden

Yow, the first two Gros Michel cracked and ripened today so I know I have to start harvesting. Someone mentioned harvesting from the top down. How exactly do I do that?

Yeah, it would be easier just to hack down the whole bunch but my younger son comes to visit in 10 days and I would really like to have some still edible on his arrival. Alas, I am guessing there is no chance there will still be green ones at the end of July when he leaves for Kabul for a year The plan had been for him to hand carry some to his wife who is already there and has been waiting to taste these guys for YEARS. Maybe plant #2 will come through but the fruit on it is still pretty runty.
