The sterile male flowers come after the female flowers/bananas. They either dry up and stay on the bunch or they drop off. It depends on the variety. Like Raja Puri you will notice all the dried up dead male flowers left behind. The male flowers are usually sterile on edible/seedless types.

How tall was the Hua Moa when it flowered? About 10’ or so?
Keep posting pics! You don’t see many Hua Moa bunches. Such a good plantain! They are amazing to eat over-ripe as a sweet plantain also! I was on track for a bunch this year, but our horriable winter decided to happen! I don’t have a single unprotected pstem standing!
