Dig up a corm and have a look. Thats the best way to see what they look like.
just wash off the dirt and they're not hard to spot.

Varieties and the size of a corm will be the difference in how many you'll have.
Not every knarly corm piece will grow if you just cut it up and plant it.
That's the point.
