Default New Cali Gold has wet, black area

I have had this Cali Gold a few weeks. It has been in my hoop house. The soil is a soil-less mix with a little extra perlite and a small amount of shredded pine bark. The pot is a 3 gallon nursery pot. I watered it in with a little liquid seaweed when I potted it but it hasn't had any additional water. The soil is moist but not at all wet. I noticed a dark, wet area this morning. If I press on it water comes out freely. It has a new leaf coming out that looks good. Things seem to happen so quickly with bananas I want to get advice about this before I kill it. I have a picture but don't know how to post it here. The dark, wet spot is just below where the banana was cut off for shipping, and on the outside of the plant.
