Default Re: Bananas !! or New Banana Farm

Yes the Paggi's were added at the last moment with out research. The Paggi's and the Gros Michel were poor choices for my growing zone. Other members seem to be growing the GM north of zone 10, but I see comments these are difficult and not likely to fruit. I have another GM from a different suppler. It was the last plant to break ground this late this spring and is still a slow grower. The GM appears to be a zone 11 plant. ... The Paggi I my try again in a container since it is not a big plant and I now have a greenhouse. But not right now.

All of the above plants were 3 ft or more tall and the corms were large. The pstems were cut at 3 or 4 ft and placed in the trunk of my car for the trip back to South Georgia. A few plants less than 4 ft, Paggi and a couple of others were left whole. So I didn't expect to lose the GMs.

So may be my list can help someone else in zone 8B.
