You don't really eat egg laying hens. Egg layers do not taste the same as a meat chicken. My family has always had chickens. We have attempted to eat them in the past and it never turns out well. Especially free range and older hens. I think a wild pig would do much more damaged and be a lot tastier. However, I do not know if Hawaii has a wild hog problem with we do here down in FL.
