Okay, I'm back from researching hazelnut sizes. (Heavens do you not own a tape measure?) Sounds like typical wild ones. How do they taste? If they're in poor soil they would probably benefit from enhanced care. I'm guessing red clay there; sand here but fortunately I get free compost from the dump--have to load and haul it but it's pretty good stuff.
