Do a titanum seedlings have the capability to give off toxins and kill other plants in the same tray?

The dominant one has grown larger while the weaker one eventually rotted away as the other one has really spread it's roots out. Here are the pictures.


I have many other ones not as advanced as these, but I'm afraid having many in the same spot would result in natural selection where only the strongest survives. I'm not sure if there's any way to save this plant.
