Okay sorry... hijacking this thread as a public service announcement.
A family has just lost their outdoor cat to a rabid raccoon.
People - get your cats and dogs vaccinated against rabies and keep your cats indoors!
The cat is not currently vaccinated against rabies,tangled with the raccoon, and lived only to be quarantined until the test results came back.
Well the raccoon tested positive for rabies, just got the results.
The owner's do not want to force a six month strict confinement on the cat.
The saddest part again: This was a totally senseless and completely avoidable loss of a beloved family pet...
