Wow, that video was SOOOOOOO very misleading. It should gone something like 'why spend a few dollars on store-bought bananas when you can spend several years and plenty of effort to grow your own!? They act like you can harvest fruit year round from a single potted banana.....riiiiiiight.

Anywho, I'm sure growing bananas would be a lot of fun for kids...so it's not like it's a huge waste of money or anything. Just don't get your hopes too terribly high on achieving fruit (since many of us northern/indoor growers have been at this for years and never even seen a flower).

And like Tony said, musa is the genus (like the 'family' but more specific) that includes all the edible bananas and a few inedible ones as well. Musa 'Dwarf Cavendish' is a variety within musa that looks like a very likely possible plant that the infomercial is selling.
