To me, they look quite sunburnt. Were they just moved into more sun then they were used to previously? If so, that happens to mine when I move them out for the summer. They get a bit burnt up, but recover nicely and new leaves are adapted to the sun (and won't burn like the older foliage).
Also, I'd refrain from fertilizing on such a young plant. That could be part of the problem. As for watering, it sounds like you are doing it correctly. Check potted plants twice a day during summer if outside...water well when dry.
