The regular MG potting soil doesn't drain worth anything. I have been successful with MG, however the Cactus blend is the only thing I'd touch.

The natural clay sand here in South Texas is just find. You can make amends to it with compost and manure. The compost helps break it down.

When I get new bananas, they get an initial watering and aren't wartered for the next 4-5 days. Once new growth starts they go on a normal/regular watering schedule for me based on temperature. Here though, once it starts pushing you really can't over water during our long growing season.
