I still think 'xishuangbannaensis' is something else then Mekong Giant,....but,...I am convinced that Mekong Giant is indeed a real itinerans var.

Musa yunnanensis has nothing to do with itinerans, only shares habitat in some occasions from what I read.

Some Burmese Blue are also itineranses, but some are cultivar species.

Furthermore Musa itinerans 'Indian Form' is ofcourse a real itinerans.

I'm growing both 'Indian Form' and Mekong Giant over here, still small plants.
As you can read in the article of it's description some of the subspecies of itinerans have long runners, as Mekong and 'Indian Form' do,....but then again,...not all itinerans subspecies do.
