Default Re: Harvest

i drive a truck over the road,and have shipped many many bananas{i hate to carry bananas!!!!!}have also spent a lot of time in Costa Rica and nicaragua...depends on type the are...picked early..temp control all the way..when i drop a load at dole or del monte..the temp box is checked,any big fluxuation they will refuse the load..reason being,,shipped at wrong temp ripen to soon,will not make it to market...thru temp and humidity you can either retard or quicken the banana to stay greener a little longer or to yellow a little faster...thay use the same type of banana,so eaiser to munipulate..we grow it all so trial and error...sorry so long..hope it helped..FYI..i hang mine in the bathroom{shower}when i want mine to ripen a little faster in the cooler months
got to love em..{neotropical rattlesnake..cascabell}
