It's kind of a heartbreaking decision I'm sure. On one hand, if any of the roots are cut or disturbed from the mother plant, then it's possible the hands could fail during development because of lack of source for nutrients. On the other hand, this might be early enough so that it can re-grow new roots to seek the moisture and nutrients needed by the time they begin to set bloom flush. I might have done the same, simply because if I waited any longer, the mother plant may not trigger to create more pups during the finish, then I might be left with just this one pup after the stalk decay begins.
I think the video was very informative for those who are interested in doing the same. Especially for those in northern states, or places where pot culture is mandatory. This is a process that Everyone there would need to know.
One thing which could be helpful to add to a future video is an added segment on soil selection, since we're talking about potting up....This could be instrumental in explaining how various % of perlite into the new soil could be beneficial for aeration depending on your climate and the amount of rainfall there could potentially be.
