Premature Bananation
I'm from Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania (zone 6B). I have been growing the hardy banana for 3 years now. It is my favorite plant of all. BUT the weather here in PA has been crazy. The weather, at times, at the end of February and the beginning of March hit the high 70s. My anxiety to see my little ones underneath my mulch, I uncovered at the beginning of March. Of course, after I took off the mulch the weather went down into the low 30s. My plants keep on shooting up new growth, but they get burnt by the cold weather. My question is.... will they begin to produce beautiful leaves once the weather evens out? I hope I did not hurt these plants. They are like family. I know that sounds crazy, but they are a masterpiece in Pennsylvania. Hope to hear from someone in the Lehigh Valley who has experience the same "bananation". Thank you.
