Default Bare root

Moved a pot with a banana plant in it and found this "bare root" coming out the bottom. Will it hurt too much if the root is removed ? We wanted to keep the plant in the pot until next spring. It and a dozen or so more are hopefully going to stay in containers until spring also.
Also, the container has some tree bark in it and when we moved the pot we found some termites, lots of termites in Florida, along with many other critters. Will they bother the plants?
Thanks
