Well, it may be the most over-rated by some but is also under-rated by some others such as yourself. My Dwarf Orinoco did not survive the 20F we had in January but the Cal Gold, which came from Joe Real, survived fine with the same temps. Your experiences are different and your climate is different. People have grown California Gold in the Central Valley of California and found it to grow and fruit more reliably than Dwarf Orinoco. I have fruit on my California Gold right now but have never got my Dwarf Orinoco to fruit, though it probably would have it it wasn't quite so cold this past January. Your experiences may be different, but that does not make others wrong in wanting to grow California Gold. If you don't think they're worth it, don't bother buying one. This was argued in a different thread previously with unproductive results. The bottom line is that a California Gold tastes tons better than something that doesn't fruit at all.
