Default Earwigs and growing temperature question

Hey,

Two questions, I have two newish bananas that haven't grown much yet, but anyway, several earwigs like to hang out in in the pseudostem where the new leaf comes out? Do they do damage?
Also, let's say if bananas stop growing at 53 degrees F, does that mean that if it hits 53 degrees, everything stops and then has to start all over again growing? Or if it's mostly 70s, 80s and occasionally drops below 53, it doesn't stop growing? I guess I'm asking if it loses momentum. Thanks.
