Default Re: Calif gold bloom

I was able to harvest fruit from My Calif Gold but it took extraordinary long time because of where I live. We have discussed in my other post that bananas stopped growing altogether at 55 degrees temperature. We have a lot of temperatures below that even during the winter months and mostly during the winter months so I can not tell you the norm how long.
My experienced was this:
I bought this Calif Gold with blooms at the start of winter about 4 years ago and I was able to protect it from the cold by Christmas lights and wrapping it with plastic. It took all summer long for it to get it full and another winter for it to ripen. My problem was that only one half of a leaf was left green and the rest was browned by the cold. A friend of mine advised me to exposed the green pstem to help for photosynthesis and to help the fruit to grow.
