HBL, wait and dont be in any rush to cut the pups off, the bigger roots they have the better. We're not in Hawaii where they can get away with cutting them all off. There would be a slightly different technique cutting the pups depending on if you're planning on overwintering the mother plant or not... if you're going to save it get a sharp spade and just cut straight down and work around each pup trying to get as many roots as you can. If not whack the mother to the ground with a sharp shovel or knife and get as much of the parent plants corm and roots with the pups you're saving. This will add vigor to the new plants.
