I am very sorry to hear that Patty...Quite unfortunate. It probably didnt have much energy to give to flowering and thats why it only gave male flowers...Also excessive shade may also be responsible for it only forming male flowers and no female even if it had energy to spare...I wish you to get another inflorescence someday relatively soon though you will still have big chances of getting no bananas if shade indeed triggers only male flowering in bananas as it does in certain other plants.
I have no problem either way regarding the winner,especially after his very kind offer to send you a hand of his home grown bananas!
