Thanks...I was wondering the same thing....It seemed to work pretty well i think i will add some plastic between a layer of mulch next year to keep them from getting so wet. I think that would help a lot. Plus maybe a cage made of chicken wire would help also. It would keep the mulch more consistent instead of a cone shaped pile of mulch.

So i woke up this morning to a surprise it snowed over night!! Thankfully i was ahead of the game and covered my basjoo up earlier up in the day because i saw it was gonna rain and get to a low of 28*. I will uncover again after monday cuz its all warm after that. But anyways here is a pic of my temperary protection and the snow on the ground...
