Re: What did you plant today (other plants)?
Thanks, Cassie!
You are in Hawaii, right? The Agricultural Laws dealing with plant import and export in HI are convoluted at best. It used to be that only certain things could not be sent TO Hawaii, including orchids, bananas, bromelaids, coffee plants, and some other stuff, without a specific import permit.
This permit had to be obtained by the receiver in HI, not by the sender. And, everything sent OUT of HI to the Mainland had to be "certified" for export on the HI end as well.
But along about 2005 all of the states rewrote their Ag laws and now its harder to send anything into or out of HI. I would advise you to check with you local office there before you send plants out or accept trades, just to save yourself some potential problems.
